Note from the Self

Even when the sky is open, the birds are chirping, and the path ahead looks clear—you still need to be flexible, adaptable, and stay open to possibilities. The universe may have other plans for you. Let the ability to suspend in the unknown, uncertainty, or disbelief be your superpower. Common sense is important. Security is important. But so is being open-minded.

Stay open. Stay curious.

Stay flexible between will and surrender.

Like the root of a tree firmly grounded in the earth, and yet able to sway in the wind or withstand a hurricane, while most rigid structures of concrete buildings come crashing down. Nothing can grow or evolve without movement. Be flexible, but firmly grounded in what's important.

Your essence.

Stay true to your essence; it's the prime spirit, the soul, the primordial energy found within your heart. Then it's whispering,

"What is more important than your fear?"

That is your Source.

The spring where you drink the courage to step up, to be seen, to take a stance and claim what belongs to you. Consider all possibilities with curiosity and excitement; only with this readiness of an open heart will the light get in and shine on the hidden treasure that resides in you.

Like an eye pupil: our optical drape, the aperture. This opening is the gap that lets light in so that we can see. Confucians call it the open center, Buddhists call it the pedestal of awareness, Taoists call it the ancestral earth, the mysterious pass.

As with a window is an aperture to me. It lets the light in, so that I can see. It allows the wind in so that I can feel the sky. It's this same portal of light that called to me to get up and run. Leaping off the mysterious pass because I had no better option than to lie there waiting for death to come and claim me. That's how I began to master plunging into the complete unknown.

The new place will be scary and uncomfortable. You will feel powerless in the big new world, but you did so well when you left the comfort of mother's womb, where you first pulled out from the warm, dark vessel where you were fed with food and oxygen—just floating effortlessly and comfortably in that sacred water. Coming into the world wasn't a voluntary act, not at all, but it was your divine time.

And the star was born.

The star is unique; everybody has their own star. This unique destiny literally fell upon us when we were born. Star means the mortal soul, the eternal psyche within us. And yet very few people follow their own star today. They worship other people's stars: gurus, prophets, heads of state, influencers, even movie stars.

Becoming a follower of someone we admire, whom we think is a great personality or successful, is easy. The path is shown and known, no risk to take, no change, no adjustment, no discomfort. No responsibility if the effort fails.

But that's not our star!

Our lodestar can only be found in the depth of our own darkness, our unconscious. That is why it's harder to follow our own star: it requires isolation from the collective. We have to wander into the unknown wilderness, not knowing where to go; it's dark—most of the time, we have to find a completely new way for ourselves. And our own light.

Find your light from within.

Follow your own unique destiny instead of just fulfilling the collective role the noise demands. What have you done that makes you unique?

Who or what have you been giving your power to? To whom did you allow to dim your light?

Is it fear?

Then, what can I build that reflects my light, not my fear?
