At the Sunset Sky of Bali Days

A sweet farewell to Bali on the last few pages of my journal (and a life's chapter)

OK. Calm down.
Something beautiful is finding its way to you. Sati. Sati.
All this clutter in my way and in my head. Notice this messy energy, and don't get lost in it.
It brings pimples and constipation.

The rain begins to come to us more than we want it to, now that we need to wash and dry things in the sun. Oh, life is all about surrender to what is. And just be aware.

All the unknown ahead hangs in the uncertainty of everyday, but slowly and slowly, we are moving out of here. In this chapter of life, in this part of the world, through the challenges and bitterness of the island lives, I was here to find the light in all of it.

Chin up. Keep breathing deep. Keep the faith and love in all things and Self. Trust that they are unfolding exactly as they are supposed to, at the pace of time and space co-created with nature.

Two years...went by in a flash, the blink of an eye. These final few days, I will try my best to be kind to myself and other souls.

I will miss the dogs and the children I met here on the streets. The trees I hugged and caressed, asking how old they were. The eyes I caught randomly in all the places I've been, strangers and friends, and I will remember this beautiful island I've seen. All the hardships and sweetness, the chaos and suffering, I will cherish the lessons they taught me. I'm grateful for the part of me that carried all the weights and bore the pains that were not mine– I let that part of me go. I let it all go back to the upper air where the ancient gods breathe, where all the impermanence belongs.

Breaking up with the past, and leap through what lies ahead in the future. The world is getting away and out of control; how are you doing at keeping the spirit calm and uncontaminated as you move forward?

All is well in my world. Trust that.

Glide into every day with ease and lightness. Let the warmth of the sunlight wash through my soul, and the droplets of morning dew on the blades of grass and tips of the leaves cleanse all my worries and fears. The flowers and the birds singing me their farewell songs, and all the dogs and cats, the snails, and alus*.

All the beings and plants know. Wallie and Bekki know. One chapter comes to a close, another one opens.

Don't hold on to a single thing. Anything that doesn't belong with you in the new space of your elevated field. Leave it behind and let it become part of the nature here. Express your deep gratitude to all, and now you're ready to go.

I don't know if I felt this way when we left Japan. It was home for five years, and it was nostalgic and sad to say goodbye to a place that was much loved. Leaving Bali is more content, less yearning, more awakening. I know we were placed here for good reasons and lessons. I feel like I have understood and embodied everything I was here to become, and more. I am grateful and at incredible peace.

Thank you, Bali. You will be in my good thoughts.

Be well.
